Perfectionism and the Law of Attraction

Several times in the recent past I've been in a place where the discussion has involved the concept of perfectionism. I thought I'd take the time to delve into the concept here in the hope that what I'm learning will be of benefit to you.

Probably one of the most profound realizations for me, was when I realized that Perfectionist's rather than looking for things to be right, as most of us would believe, they're actually on a mission to find the flaws.

As a perfectionist the ideal is to have it so RIGHT that you're continually on the lookout for what's not right which is just another way of saying you're looking for what's wrong, for the flaws, the mistakes.

This was a huge re-frame for me, as it has been for a couple of other people I've talked about it with since.

If your belief is your thoughts create your reality and you're looking for what's not right, what a contradictory message you're giving out. How can you possibly create a wonderful life if you're always on the lookout for what's not right with it.

I'd like you to really follow this line of thinking through with me very carefully ... if you believe that your thoughts create your reality and you're always looking for what's not right then just what are you going to get more of?

So, if by some chance perfectionism is somewhat present in an area of your life ... how about doing some re-framing of your own? You could ask yourself, 'What's right about ... ?'

My challenge to you is: Make a list at the end of each day of at least 5 things that went right in your day. If you'd like to be held accountable then please take the opportunity to post what's gone right in your life in the comments.

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

Okay, five things that went right on Sunday 03 of August 2008.

1. Caught a taxi from Monash University without having to ring them on the phone. Did this solely on trust and faith.

2. Went to the shops, purchased the rice cooker, luckily they had it in stock!! Only two left!!

3. Bought a big bag of rice, within my budget!! Another good sign.

4. Received a yellow card to pick up my parcel. Fantastic because I've been waiting for several books I purchased online.

5. Cleaned up my room, took out the trash, and am on a new diet.

And what about you, care to share?
