Is Your Life Controlled by Fear and Worry?

Our fears impact us physically, mentally and emotionally. They enhance our negative thinking and impair our normal perception, rationality and comprehension and sometimes its even enough to make you feel sick.

Fear, and all of it's cousins, doubt, worry and anxiety may be the worst enemies of the human species.

Most people self-limit themselves. Most people do not achieve a fraction of what they are capable of achieving because they are afraid to try because they are afraid they will fail.

Fear of failure is one of the greatest fears people have and it's closely related to fear of criticism and fear of rejection. Fear of failure immobilizes you. To overcome this fear, you must act. When you act, act boldly.

The Law of Feedback states:
There is no failure; there is only feedback.

Successful people look at mistakes as outcomes or results, not as failure. Unsuccessful people look at mistakes as permanent and personal.

Buckminster Fuller wrote, “Whatever humans have learned had to be learned as a consequence only of trial and error experience. Humans have learned only through mistakes.”

List Making
Funnily enough one of the things I use when fear raises its head in my life is lists.

Making a list of the good and the bad, the pros and the cons, the for and the against ... depending on what it is you're working on allow you to really think about what it is you want to do and why you want to do it.

Developing your Why
It's possilby the thought that's put into the why you would want to do the thing that gives the power to take the actions you need to take to do the thing your thinking about doing.

The Worst and the Best

There's a couple of really good questions to ask yourself as you review your list:
  • What's the worst thing that could possibly happen?
  • Can you live with that?
Once you've answered these questions then the only other thing to think about is ...

Who's it good for?
Ultimately is it good for you, the people involved and the world around you?

How can you utilize these things to overcome your fears in your life and move yourself for
ward to getting the results you desire.

Remember: Successful people overcome their fear of failure.

We're all unique and special with our own set of talents and skills and the Universe is simply waiting for us to recognize this so it can create the synchronicities necessary for us to achieve the wonderful live we really deserve. So what are you waiting for ... get out that paper and write that list!

Love to know what's on your list! Pop it on the blog ... putting what you want out there makes it happen sooner and faster.

Love life and live it creatively and on purpose!

Perfectionism and the Law of Attraction

Several times in the recent past I've been in a place where the discussion has involved the concept of perfectionism. I thought I'd take the time to delve into the concept here in the hope that what I'm learning will be of benefit to you.

Probably one of the most profound realizations for me, was when I realized that Perfectionist's rather than looking for things to be right, as most of us would believe, they're actually on a mission to find the flaws.

As a perfectionist the ideal is to have it so RIGHT that you're continually on the lookout for what's not right which is just another way of saying you're looking for what's wrong, for the flaws, the mistakes.

This was a huge re-frame for me, as it has been for a couple of other people I've talked about it with since.

If your belief is your thoughts create your reality and you're looking for what's not right, what a contradictory message you're giving out. How can you possibly create a wonderful life if you're always on the lookout for what's not right with it.

I'd like you to really follow this line of thinking through with me very carefully ... if you believe that your thoughts create your reality and you're always looking for what's not right then just what are you going to get more of?

So, if by some chance perfectionism is somewhat present in an area of your life ... how about doing some re-framing of your own? You could ask yourself, 'What's right about ... ?'

My challenge to you is: Make a list at the end of each day of at least 5 things that went right in your day. If you'd like to be held accountable then please take the opportunity to post what's gone right in your life in the comments.

Love life and live it creatively,

The Power of Emotions

The wonderful thing about emotions is that they are ALL normal. Because they are all normal they all need to be acknowledged. That’s right ALL of them!

The challenge with the so-called negative emotions is that you can get stuck in them. However even ‘negative’ emotions have reason or purpose. And once your realize this and take it onboard this gives you the opportunity to utilize the information they give you to your advantage.

Once you’ve made the decision to take full responsibility for yourself and the way you feel that means you can then make the decision to use the way your feeling to make decisions. That’s right.

Learn to take notice of how you’re feeling and acknowledge it.

Tell yourself …
'This is what I’m feeling … '

Then ask yourself …

'Why am I feeling this way?'
'What can I do about it?'

Emotions were never meant to be ignored. They’re meant to let you know how you feel about what’s happening in your world and give you the power to accept it the way it is or change it.

Love life and live it creatively,

Lilian Too says Feel the Fear of Taking Risks

Allow your thoughts to excite you. Feel the fear of taking risks. Acknowledge that it is all a little scary. Then overcome your fears by thinking about the rewards, which can be limitless. Go with the flow!
~Lilian Too

Fear is a ‘Possibility Stealer’. No-one is exempt from it, although some have got better at dealing with it. A lot of people have lived with fear for so long they don't even realize they're living with it. Yet, nothing compromises you more than the fear you've grown accustomed to.

Fear can weave itself into your thoughts every time you decide to make a change or do something differently. In that moment of decision, a trail of thoughts and feelings is ignited and entwines its way into minds … our baggage from the past … so that you can end up feeling that ‘Well … maybe this isn’t the best time …’ or other action delaying conclusions.

One way of dealing with fearful / negative feelings, which most of us have got quite proficient with, is to use it as a clue to stop what we’re doing and stay with what we know.

And yet I’m sure you know someone who never seems to let fear take over thoughts. So why is it that some people deal efficiently with fear and others don’t?

Attention and Awareness are the keys. Fear takes over your mind when you take your attention and awareness off how you’re feeling and lose yourself in your thoughts. One thought leads to another, then another and before you know it … there’s a ‘reason’ or an ‘excuse’ to stop doing what you’re doing.

Fear comes as those ‘rational’ thoughts which ‘make sense’ or confusion and inability to make a decision or worry, anxiety, regret, resentment, frustration or anger to name a few. It’s those nebulous thoughts which leave you feeling deflated and out of sorts.

The key to using fear as a catalyst are Attention and Awareness to what you’re thinking and how you’re feeling. The very moment you notice yourself feeling ‘stressed’ or out of sorts, is the very moment you need to reclaim your Attention and Awareness rather than consenting to go along with it.

And you can do this easily by maintaining your Awareness and Attention and changing the questions you ask yourself. Start your mind searching for the ‘reasons’ why you can be do and have all the awesome, beautiful, wonderful things you truly deserve in this life.

Love life and live it creatively.
