Marianne Williamson, Let your light shine ...

Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,
but that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.
And, as we let our own light shine,
we consciously give other people permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

So get out there, shine your light and inspire those around you to do the same.

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

Hi Leanne et al,

This article contains little under 200 words, but these few words are a wellspring of wisdom.

Especially this quote: "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God."

I think quote was from Abraham Maslow.

See what I mean, Leanne's website not only supplies you with her own unique insights but also insights from various authors.

I bought a book entitled "Unleashed! A Guide to Your Ultimate Self-Actualization" by L. Michael Hall, which contains the above quote.

The book was $38.94 US, but the insights on the website are for free!

Make it a wonderful day!

This is a beautiful quote. It should be attributed to it's rightful author though. Nelson Mandela penned the words and spoke them in his 1994 inaugural address.

Hi Richard,

I so totally understand your point of view, for years I thought the same thing until I took the time to actually listen to the speech!

If you check out this link:

At the bottom of the page is this information and 2 links to the speech:

Note About Nelson Mandela

This quote is often found on the Internet incorrectly credited to Nelson Mandela from his Inauguration Speech, 1994, especially the last sentence of that quote, “As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

The piece includes 2 links to transcripts of the official speech

1. Mandela: Inauguration Address - Cape Town, 09 May 1994, via South Africa Government Online Official Web site.

2. Statement Of The President Of The African National Congress Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela At His Inauguration As President Of The Democratic Republic Of South Africa Union Buildings - Pretoria, 10 May 1994, via ANC's (African National Congress) Official Web site.

Love life and live it creatively and on purpose!
