Speak Your Truth

The only truth you can ever speak is your own. One of the things I love about life is the way two people can look at the same situation and see two different things, to the point where sometimes I even wonder if we've been at the same place at the same time.

Does this ever happen to you?

Our personal truth comes from the way we interpret the world around us. So much of the way we interpret the world around us comes from the rules we've made as we've moved through our own game of life.

The rules we've created are based on the decisions and beliefs we've made as a result of the way we've deleted, distorted and generalized the information around us.

Let's face it with about 2 millions of bits of information coming at us via the input channels of our 5 senses every second, (Mihaly Csikszentmihaly, Flow) there's no way we're going to manage to catch all of it.

So we develop filters based on our interpretations of our experiences and out of the 2 million bits we process around .000067%. That's a lot of stuff left out!

A really excellent example of this is when we or someone we know decide to purchase a new car. We choose something that's a bit different that we may rarely have ever seen on the road before. And yet the moment we decide upon that particular model and colour, all of a sudden they're everywhere.

A friend of mine opened my eyes to the possibility that within groups the ... let's call it 'yuk' cascades downhill. What she meant was if something happens to you then somewhere in your life you're doing it to someone.

I had never really noticed this in my life before, however once she had presented the idea, the reality of it hit home almost immediately. We had a discussion which I simply couldn't seem to get my point of view across no matter how many different ways I phrased it. In the end we agreed to differ.

A couple of hours later she received a phone call and was telling me about this particular situation and as it dawned on me that it was different circumstances but the same situation we'd had earlier, it dawned on her too.

Now I don't believe this is something which 'HAS' to happen. In my world (Wonderland or Fairy Princessland) I believe that if there is something that happens to us and we don't like it, then that's our opportunity to correct it within us. We don't have to inflict it on others to learn the lesson.

I believe in fact that we can take that bit of information about how we don't like to be treated and make sure that we treat others that way instead of passing the 'yuk' onto others.

I had a conversation with my friend which was my attempt at politely drawing my line in the sand about how I would like to be treated. We again had to agree to differ.

And I was so pleased with myself an hour or so later when I was in discussion with someone else.

I had one of those sitting outside myself experiences where I realized I could end up leaving the person I was in discussion with feeling the way I had felt earlier or I could find a different way to express myself and they could feel good about themselves and maybe open their mind to other possibilities.

It was one of the most mind opening conversations I had ever had, not only was I able to present my point of view in a way which validated the other person and opened their mind to new possibilities but it opened my mind at the same time.

It's so easy to get on our bandwagon and forget that others have their own reality. And although that reality might be different to ours that makes it no less right, it just makes it different to ours.

The bottom line for all of us, is how we view our life is up to us as individuals.

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

Karen Salmansohn says 'Life is not Random'

I'm not sure about you but my inbox is a wonderful place for inspiration.

I've signed up for an array of different newsletters from some incredible people and if I need a bit of a lift or to be inspired, I randomly select one. And one of those great things about life ... whatever I open it's somehow is just what I need at the time. And this morning was no exception as I was trying to work out what to write here.

Life is not 100% random destiny. Life is a lively, interactive fusion of destiny AND free will.
~ Karen Salmansohn

Life is about choices. and the wonderful thing about choices is that we get to make them either by our action or our inaction.

Once we really acknowledge and accept this truth life seems to take on a whole new aspect. For me, and you can choose to accept this for yourself or not ... after all the choice is yours ;) ... I have started looking for confirmation, for serendipity and the co-incidences. And since I started looking for them, boy have they started showing up.

Yesterday I was working through a 'Contrast and Clarity' exercise from
a workshop I did with Michael Losier.

My clarity statement was 'the right people and circumstances show up at the right time to move me forward to achieve my goals quickly, easily and naturally.

I just finished writing it and the phone rang ... Oh My Goodness!!

How quickly does the confirmation, the serendipity and the co-incidences start showing up for you?

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

Dr Joanna Martin and Mia Munro ... It's About Stepping Up!

When is the right time now for you to Step Up And Show the World Who You REALLY Are?

That's the lesson I learnt this morning ... and in one form or another that's the lesson that's been showing up for me on so many different levels for quite some time now.

I was at the Launch Breakfast of Sisters in Sync Melbourne this morning. It's an event I helped co-ordinate and it was amazing.

Phenomenal
Speakers (Mia Munro and Dr Joanna Martin) and Phenomenal Attendees in a really great space with fabulous staff (The Retro Cafe in Fitzroy)

For one part of the event each of us were invited to stand up and share our 'Passion' and how we contribute to the world around us with the other Phenomenal Women in the room.

And let me share with you there were some phenomenal women in that room this morning who do some incredible things and have enormous vision. I felt so lucky to be a part of it.

What was so great for me at the end was my friend Mia's reaction to my 5 minutes of fame. At the end her comment was ... 'Where did that come from? You were great! How come you've never shown that side of you to me before? You have so much energy and you can put it out there so well.'

So why don't I put it out there more often? Because for some reason I've chosen not to. And I don't know if you can relate to this or not, but in my reality, the only reason you're reading this is because you can and that maybe now is the right time for you to be doing the same.

And now you know that I know that you know, the only thing you can do now is to step up and show the world the wonderful person
you really are.

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

Life Was Meant to be EASY and Mike Litman

I received a wonderful reminder in my inbox this morning.

What I love about my life at the moment is the way things are happening to move me forward once I set my intention.

And the other thing I’ve noticed, is that now I’m noticing, it’s happening faster and sometimes, like today the thoughts haven’t even got properly organized in my head and there’s an answer.

The email I received was from Mike Litman with a link to his most recent Blog Post. It was about The Belief Called Struggle and quite frankly it got me thinking. A good thing!

This thing about ’struggle’ has been revolving in my mind for quite some time now in various forms mostly to do with having fun and finding the fun in what I'm doing.

Just the last week or so
however it's moved on to having more time out particularly with my family and friends.

I’ve been working with some people I know and thinking about how they live their lives and observing how easy life seems for them. Not that they don’t put any effort in but just how life seems to flow for them.

And then I’ve been wondering why my life seems to be soooo very busy and as soon as I complete one thing there are about 10 more to do without an end in sight. And often it seems like whatever I do it never seems to be enough.

What Mike's post has prompted me to realize is that in order to do be having more time out and more fun I need to focus my attention on the natural, progressive flow. And the more in flow I am the easier things are going to be!

So here's to focusing on the flow!

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams - Randy Pausch

This video came to my inbox in January and it's over an hour long and it's very worth the time. It's been viewed over 6 million times. If you've got other stuff you need to be doing keep it open in a tab or window and just have it playing in the background.

I guarantee you it will inspire you to dig deep and think about your life and what's really important to you. For Randy Pausch the saying, 'If you had a finite time to live how would you spend your time,' has taken on the mantle of reality.

Prepare to be inspired!

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne
