Life Choices

Have you ever had the experience where you're thinking or chatting about someone or something and then a short while later they or it turns up?

That's what happened with this story :)) I was talking about it with a group of friends and then a few days later a completely different friend sent it to me.

Co-incidence? I don't think so. The Universe is only too happy to give us what we ask for ... what are you asking for?

Enjoy the read ... it's one that will make you feel wonderful on the inside!

Chush is a school in Brooklyn, New York that caters to learning disabled children. Some children remain in Chush for their entire school career. At a Chush fund-raising dinner, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:

'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.

Yet my son Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot
understand things as other children do.

Where is the natural order of things in my son?'

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.'

Then he told the following story:

Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team,
but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.'

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.

In the top of the ninth inning Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again.

Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled t
o be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat.. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact.

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.

The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay.

As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman.

Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head out of reac
h of all team mates.

Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling 'Shay, run to first! Run to first!'

Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.

He scampered down the baseline wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'

Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base.

By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball ... the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team.

He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head.

Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay'

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base and shouted, 'Run to third! Shay, run to third!'

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'

Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team.

'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world'.

Now I ask you ... what can you do today that can help bring a little more love, understanding and humanity into this world of ours?

Love life and live it creatively and on purpose!

Discovering the Power of Choice

There are 3 simple steps to the process of discovering the purpose of your life ... My wish is you take each step and truly think about them and come out with a blueprint list that inspires you to feel excited about your life.

Understandi
ng the principle of choice
Norman Vincent Peale has this to say about the power of choice. “The gr
eatest power we have is the power of choice. It's an actual fact, that if you've been drooping with unhappiness, you can choose to be joyous, instead.

If you tend to be fearful, you can overcome that misery by choosing to have courage. The whole trend and the quality of anyone’s life is determined by the choices that are made”.
Choosing is the most important activity of your mind, because by making a choice, you're proclaiming your desires to your subconscious mind.

Once the subconscious mind gets to know your desires, it's going to do anything to manifest them in your life. The choices you make in your life become your goal. And, if you are sincere in pursuing them, there's every reason why you'll accomplish them.

Indecision, on the other hand, not only creates frustration and anxiety, but can also confuse the subconscious mind about what you want.

But it's important that the choices you make are made by you, in accordance with your true desires, purposes and aptitude. A lot us of let others make choices for us, or make our choices according to what we think is ‘correct’, even if that means that we go against our wishes.

What's right for someone else may not be right for you, and the way to know this is listening to what your heart says.

So, to begin with, make a list of things which interests you; things you enjoy, which make you feel good, which inspire you to surge ahead, no matter what obstacles you face.

Do you like doing something creative, or something artistic? Do you enjoy nature, do you like the sea? Do you enjoy helping others? Do you get pleasure out of making a difference in other people’s life?

What ever it is that interests you, go ahead and make a list under the following headlines:

Things you love to do:

______________________________________

What is it that you love in this thing and why?

__________________ ___________________

How you could do this for money, and make a living out of it?

______________________________________

Remember
: this is all about the things YOU love to do, the things that make you feel great when you're doing them. This is how people get to a place where they never feel like they're working at all.

Love life and live it creatively and on purpose!

Perfectionism and the Law of Attraction

Several times in the recent past I've been in a place where the discussion has involved the concept of perfectionism. I thought I'd take the time to delve into the concept here in the hope that what I'm learning will be of benefit to you.

Probably one of the most profound realizations for me, was when I realized that Perfectionist's rather than looking for things to be right, as most of us would believe, they're actually on a mission to find the flaws.

As a perfectionist the ideal is to have it so RIGHT that you're continually on the lookout for what's not right which is just another way of saying you're looking for what's wrong, for the flaws, the mistakes.

This was a huge re-frame for me, as it has been for a couple of other people I've talked about it with since.

If your belief is your thoughts create your reality and you're looking for what's not right, what a contradictory message you're giving out. How can you possibly create a wonderful life if you're always on the lookout for what's not right with it.

I'd like you to really follow this line of thinking through with me very carefully ... if you believe that your thoughts create your reality and you're always looking for what's not right then just what are you going to get more of?

So, if by some chance perfectionism is somewhat present in an area of your life ... how about doing some re-framing of your own? You could ask yourself, 'What's right about ... ?'

My challenge to you is: Make a list at the end of each day of at least 5 things that went right in your day. If you'd like to be held accountable then please take the opportunity to post what's gone right in your life in the comments.

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

The Law of Creation

Whether you believe it or not Quantum Physics says your thoughts create your reality.

So what is it that you're thinking?

Are you thinking of what you do want? Or are you consolidating more of what you don't want in your life?

How can I tell, you might well ask? Simple, check in with your results.

Are you living the life of your dreams? Or are there things you've wanted to do in your life that you aren't doing or can't ever see yourself doing?

You're dreams don't have to be mega, multi millionaire dreams because not everyone wants the commitment and/or the responsibility associated with attracting that much money.

Your dreams could very well include a nice house, in a nice friendly neighbourhood, with a happy family and your extended family who all get on really well, living nearby or at least communicating regularly.

Your dream might include the car that you drive, the people you associate with and/or the charities you donate your time and/or your money to.

Your dream might be simple or it might be complex ... the thing is ... it has to be YOUR dream, the one that rocks your boat or squeals your wheels ... not mine, or the person next door or the person up the street. YOURS. YOUR life. YOUR dream.

Whether your dream is world shattering in a global sense or world shattering on a more personal level makes it no less important. Ultimately, the world will be a much better place if it's full of happy, caring and productive individuals.

So why not organize your thinking. Determine what it is you really want, start with something small if need be and believe it or not, focus on it, take some action, any action toward it, let go of how it could turn up and look out for it in the most unexpected fashion.

When that something small turns up in your life now, as it will if you focus on it as if it's already there, that means you can expect the bigger things to turn up as well.

So go ahead now, what is it you want?

Love life and live it creatively,

Life's Little Scorecard

I've made a chart for you that if you fill it out it'll give you an idea of where to prioritize some time, effort and thought.

Score 0 – 10 on how happy you are in each of the main sectors of your life. 0 being absolute misery and 10 means could not be any better.

Copy it, fill it out and decide for yourself if there are any areas of your life could do with some attention.
Love life and live it creatively,

Living Above the Line

I love the term 'Living above the Line' and the other day I did a search on it to trace it's origins. I didn't find the name of the person who first coined the term but I did find a school who has it as a poster in each of their classrooms. W.T. Townshend Public School.

Living Above the Line is about taking responsibility for your actions and your results. Research has shown that those individuals who take responsibility for their actions and consequently their results have greater control and therefore have more success in all areas of their lives.

If you Live Above the Line you're more likely to take ownership of your attitude and taking ownership of your attitude affects all areas of your life. It has the added advantage of improving your self-confidence and your self-esteem.

Living Below the Line is about laying blame, excuses, reasons, justification, denial and quitting. None of these behaviours contribute to growing self-confidence or achieving success nor can they be linked to anyone who is successful in any meaningful sense of the word.

The Power of Emotions

The wonderful thing about emotions is that they are ALL normal. Because they are all normal they all need to be acknowledged. That’s right ALL of them!

The challenge with the so-called negative emotions is that you can get stuck in them. However even ‘negative’ emotions have reason or purpose. And once your realize this and take it onboard this gives you the opportunity to utilize the information they give you to your advantage.

Once you’ve made the decision to take full responsibility for yourself and the way you feel that means you can then make the decision to use the way your feeling to make decisions. That’s right.

Learn to take notice of how you’re feeling and acknowledge it.

Tell yourself …
'This is what I’m feeling … '

Then ask yourself …

'Why am I feeling this way?'
'What can I do about it?'

Emotions were never meant to be ignored. They’re meant to let you know how you feel about what’s happening in your world and give you the power to accept it the way it is or change it.

Love life and live it creatively,

How to Dance in the Rain

I found this story by an unknown author on the net and thought it was worth sharing.

It was a bu
sy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80s arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch, and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, that I would evaluate his wound. It was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redressed his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.

I inquired as to her health; he told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning for breakfast, even though she doesn't know who you are'?

He smiled as he patted my hand and said, 'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is'.

I had to hold back tears as he left; I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, 'That is the kind of love I want in my life'.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have.

'Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.' - unknown author

Are You Living Your Life Deliberately?

I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to love deep and suck out all the marrow of life. ~ Henry David Thoreau

Are you at choice in your life?

Do you take the time to go deep inside yourself and understand what you really want in life?

For so many of us, life takes over ... we get so caught up in doing, that's there's no time to be.

Take some quiet time for yourself and get in touch with what's truly important to you! Once you understand on that on your deepest level the choice to 'Be true to yourself' is so much easier. And the upshot of that is you'll open your life to receive more of what you really want.

And the very bestest thing about that is because you're happier and more fulfilled you'll be able to give more to the people around you and they too will be happier and more fulfilled. This means that if you aren't in a space where you feel you can do this for yourself ... do it for the people you love!

Love life and live it creativley,

Leanne

Will Things Stay the Way They Are?

Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are. ~ Bertolt Brecht

The one thing I've noticed as I've gotten older is that just because things are the way they are today doesn't mean that's what they are going to be like tomorrow ... or even 5 minutes from now.

Things can change in an instant once we make the decision to put our minds to it in a systematic way.

Relax, think about what you really want, and know in your heart that it's true or something better will come about.

Love life and live it creatively,

Karen Salmansohn says 'Life is not Random'

I'm not sure about you but my inbox is a wonderful place for inspiration.

I've signed up for an array of different newsletters from some incredible people and if I need a bit of a lift or to be inspired, I randomly select one. And one of those great things about life ... whatever I open it's somehow is just what I need at the time. And this morning was no exception as I was trying to work out what to write here.

Life is not 100% random destiny. Life is a lively, interactive fusion of destiny AND free will.
~ Karen Salmansohn

Life is about choices. and the wonderful thing about choices is that we get to make them either by our action or our inaction.

Once we really acknowledge and accept this truth life seems to take on a whole new aspect. For me, and you can choose to accept this for yourself or not ... after all the choice is yours ;) ... I have started looking for confirmation, for serendipity and the co-incidences. And since I started looking for them, boy have they started showing up.

Yesterday I was working through a 'Contrast and Clarity' exercise from
a workshop I did with Michael Losier.

My clarity statement was 'the right people and circumstances show up at the right time to move me forward to achieve my goals quickly, easily and naturally.

I just finished writing it and the phone rang ... Oh My Goodness!!

How quickly does the confirmation, the serendipity and the co-incidences start showing up for you?

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne
