The Spark Plug

by Dr. Robert Anthony
www.ManifestingSecrets.com

How is your car running these days? Have you perhaps had occasion to change spark plugs lately?

If you have, you'll know that it's a very simple job. You drive into the garage and the mechanic opens up the hood of the car, looks underneath, takes off one electric wire, puts in a wrench and takes out a spark plug, puts a new one in, puts the electric lead back on and within five minutes you can be on your way. It's a very simple thing to change spark plugs, isn't it?

But supposing you walked into a garage and asked them to change a spark plug and the mechanic came out and immediately started to take off the right-front wheel.

You would probably think that he was slightly insane, wouldn't you, and you would protest vigorously that you didn't want the wheels changed, all you wanted was a new spark plug.

Well, the other day I had a friend come to see me. He has a new sports car and he explained to me that to change the spark plugs on one side of the car, it was necessary to take off the right-front wheel! This is absolutely true.

Can you imagine the reaction of the owner the first time he drives into a garage and asks for new spark plugs? Out comes somebody and takes off the right-front wheel. He'd probably protest vigorously, as I said. Yet, my friend assured me that it was but a two-minute job to take off the right front wheel and once that was off, the spark plugs were very, very accessible and simple to remove.

Now there's a lesson this for all of us. We look at things in our lives and we see activities going on, like the taking off of a front wheel, and we wonder how on earth our lives work in this way. We're looking for the solution to a problem and a solution begins to come in some form, which is totally incomprehensible to us. We expect our good to come to us in one way. We expect the solution to come into our lives in one very obvious way, like lifting up the hood and taking out the spark plug, but the solution begins somewhere entirely different.

We may be looking for the solution of a family problem when the real need is a change in jobs. We may be looking for a change in health when in Truth; the real need is a change in our own activities and our own thinking.

The whole point to the story of the sparkplugs and the front wheel is this: that we should not attempt to judge the way in which our problems are solved, or the way in which good comes into our lives.

The total universe is a vast and complex organization. We can never understand the ramifications of Creative intelligence in our universe and, therefore, in our own lives. What we could do is say, "Fine, I accept that Life totally support me, and I accept that there is good in my life, and whichever direction it may come from, I'll accept it, know that it is good and wait for the final outcome of good."

Here then, my friend, encapsulated, is a great and vital Truth:

DON'T EXPECT YOUR PROBLEMS TO BE SOLVED IN THE WAY THAT YOU SELECT.

There may be a better way if you will put your preconceived ideas aside and open yourself to the inspiration of Creative Intelligence. It may mean taking off the front wheel of your life to get a defective spark lug by the results will be better than you can possibly imagine. Trust your inner guidance and allow the solution to come from any direction and your problems will be solved easily and effortlessly.

Ralph Waldo Emerson and Self Trust

Self trust is the first secret of success.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I love this quote by Emerson. Why do so many us give ourselves such a hard time? A lack of self trust. Why do so many businesses and relationships fail? A lack of self trust.

If you set your goals and don't achieve them, you're in risky territory. You begin to doubt yourself and then you lose confidence. An incongruent person begins to emerge, someone who says one thing and does another. Even if the incongruence isn't noticed by the outside world, it's noticed in the inside world of the most important person concerned ... yourself!

Think about it for a bit. If you decide you're going to start working out, keep a clean office, be on time or set clearer boundaries in your relationships. Then you skip a few days of working out, your office goes to mess, you're habitually late and you cross boundaries. Then what happens? You lose your trust in yourself.

According to Emerson self trust is the first key to success. Why? Because trust builds confidence! When you do what you say you'll do you trust yourself. One of the most impactful things a person can do to improve their life, is to follow through on their decisions and goals; to keep the promises you make to yourself.

Follow through creates self trust and self trust creates momentum.

Do you trust yourself? I mean really trust yourself? Emerson says this is the first secret of success and I believe him.

Sometimes though, we have such high expectations for ourselves and it can seem so hard. One statement which has had an enormous impact on my ability to change the way I do things is ... 'Just for today!'

Trust is built in small steps, just like learning to walk ... on step at a time ... one goal at a time. If life happens, rather than beating yourself up ... ask yourself ... 'What did I learn from this?'

So .. Just for today ... Set a goal ... a small goal ... follow through on that goal and then congratulate yourself for your achievement.

Then tomorrow ... Just for that day ... set another goal ... and follow through on that one.

I'd love to hear about the goals you're setting and how that's impacting your life.

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

Pace and Lead Your Own Self-Talk

Last Friday morning at Grace Food & Wine we as Sisters in Sync in Melbourne were lucky to have Liliane Grace author of The Mastery Club come and share her story with us.

Her story for those of you who haven't been fortunate to have heard it is truly inspirational.

She took herself from a place in life she didn't like being and created a place where she is now doing what she loves, in a place she loves and is loved and supported by a husband whom she was considering leaving with 3 children who now get on really well.

How did she do this you might well ask?

One contributing factor is her commitment to honouring herself as a person. Of taking the time to find out what she needed to feel good about herself.

To do this she committed herself wholeheartedly to a series of affirmations.

What she found was a few things one of the most important being she had to be really careful about the affirmations she chose or else they became self-defeating ... she had to believe them!

The series of three affirmations she created which she credits with making enormous changes in her life are:
  1. My words and thoughts affect my destiny
  2. I am in charge of my words and thoughts
  3. The faster I change my words and thoughts the faster I change my life
The reasons this worked for Liliane were also threefold, she truly believed that
  1. What she thought about affected her outcomes
  2. The only person who could be in charge of her words and thoughts was herself
  3. Which for her meant that the quicker she changed her words and thoughts the faster her outcomes would change
Are you happy with where you're at in your life?

If not what are you thinking about and what words are you using to think about it with?

Let me know how you get on!

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne
