Living Above the Line

I love the term 'Living above the Line' and the other day I did a search on it to trace it's origins. I didn't find the name of the person who first coined the term but I did find a school who has it as a poster in each of their classrooms. W.T. Townshend Public School.

Living Above the Line is about taking responsibility for your actions and your results. Research has shown that those individuals who take responsibility for their actions and consequently their results have greater control and therefore have more success in all areas of their lives.

If you Live Above the Line you're more likely to take ownership of your attitude and taking ownership of your attitude affects all areas of your life. It has the added advantage of improving your self-confidence and your self-esteem.

Living Below the Line is about laying blame, excuses, reasons, justification, denial and quitting. None of these behaviours contribute to growing self-confidence or achieving success nor can they be linked to anyone who is successful in any meaningful sense of the word.

Are you Feeling Special?

When you want to feel special right now. When you want to feel loved right now.
When you want to understand how unique and important you are in the universe right now.

Think about this RIGHT NOW: There are over 6 billion people on this planet. Of that 6 billion people, not one single person:
  • shares your exact genetic code.
  • has the memories you have.
  • has had the life experiences you've had
ALWAYS REMEMBER: That genetic code, those memories and those experiences make you unique and special ... True or True?

Yes, there is only one 'YOU!'

When you feel down. When you fell blue. When you feel unloved. When you feel unspecial. When your self esteem is low.

Think about this:
  • There is only ONE YOU in the entire universe.
  • You're the only person on the planet that has the exact mix of genetic code, talents and skills that you, and only you have.
ALWAYS REMEMBER: YOU are a miracle and there is no one like you ANYWHERE in the entire universe!

The Power of Emotions

The wonderful thing about emotions is that they are ALL normal. Because they are all normal they all need to be acknowledged. That’s right ALL of them!

The challenge with the so-called negative emotions is that you can get stuck in them. However even ‘negative’ emotions have reason or purpose. And once your realize this and take it onboard this gives you the opportunity to utilize the information they give you to your advantage.

Once you’ve made the decision to take full responsibility for yourself and the way you feel that means you can then make the decision to use the way your feeling to make decisions. That’s right.

Learn to take notice of how you’re feeling and acknowledge it.

Tell yourself …
'This is what I’m feeling … '

Then ask yourself …

'Why am I feeling this way?'
'What can I do about it?'

Emotions were never meant to be ignored. They’re meant to let you know how you feel about what’s happening in your world and give you the power to accept it the way it is or change it.

How to Dance in the Rain

I found this story by an unknown author on the net and thought it was worth sharing.

It was a bu
sy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80s arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch, and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, that I would evaluate his wound. It was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redressed his wound.

While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.

I inquired as to her health; he told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning for breakfast, even though she doesn't know who you are'?

He smiled as he patted my hand and said, 'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is'.

I had to hold back tears as he left; I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, 'That is the kind of love I want in my life'.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have.

'Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.' - unknown author

The Secret, Denis Waitley & Visual Motor Rehearsal

'Using this program, Olympic athletes ran their event –but only in their mind. They visualized how they looked and felt when they were actually participating in their event.
The athletes were then hooked up to a sophisticated biofeedback machine, and its results told the real story about the value of visualization. The same muscles fired in the same sequence as when they were actually running on the track!

This proved that the mind can’t tell the difference between whether you’re really doing something or whether it’s just a practice. Dr. Waitley says, “If you’ve been there in the mind you’ll go there in the body.'

~The Secret

Everything you do starts in your mind, which makes it vitally important that you see your life as you want it to be!

Use these 3 tips to keep you on track:

1.
Do the mental work first. This can be done first thing in the morning before you start your daily routine and / or last thing at night just before going to sleep. This will give your mind time to work on it while you sleep.

2.
Pace yourself. Make time to visualize. Give yourself breaks - go outside and enjoy nature, whatever it takes for you to see your life the way you want it to be. Sometimes you can get so caught up in 'doing' you take no time to 'Pause and Refresh.' When you're on overwhelm, it’s difficult to think creatively. Remember, breaks stimulate miracles.

3.
Consistency is the key. When you spend time every day seeing your life the way you want it to be, miracles begin to happen. In fact Miralces will happen to YOU!

Remember: The Universe moves to help those who know what they want, can see it in their mind's eye and are willing to be bold and take action to get it!

A Sweet Way of Looking At It

My inbox is a constant source of surprise and wonder. I received this from my niece this morning and thought is was worth sharing.

A carrot, an egg, and a cup of coffee.

You will never look at a cup of coffee the same way again!

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She didn't know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word.

In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.

Turning to her daughter, she asked, 'Tell me what you see.'

'Carrots, eggs, and coffee,' she replied.

Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did and noted that they were soft. The mother then asked the daughter to take an egg and break it. After pulling off
the shell, she observed the hard boiled egg. Finally, the mother asked the daughter to sip the coffee. The daughter smiled as she tasted its rich aroma.

The daughter then asked, 'What does it mean, mother?'

Her mother explained that each of these objects had faced the same adversity: boiling water. Each reacted differently. The carrot went in strong, hard, and unrelenting. However, after being subjected to the boiling water, it softened and became weak.

The egg had been fragile. Its thin outer shell had protected its liquid interior, but after sitting through the boiling water, its inside became hardened.

The ground coffee beans were unique, however. After they were in the boiling water, they had changed the water.

'Which are you?' she asked her daughter. 'When adversity knocks on your door, how do you respond? Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

Think of this: Which am I? Am I the carrot that seems strong, but with pain and adversity do I wilt and become soft and lose my strength? Am I the egg that starts with a malleable heart, but changes with the heat? Did I have a fluid spirit, but after a death, a breakup, a financial hardship or some other trial, have I become hardened and stiff?

Does my shell look the same, but on the inside am I bitter and tough with a stiff spirit and hardened heart?

Or am I like the coffee bean? The bean actually changes the hot water, the very circumstance that brings the pain. When the water gets hot, it releases the fragrance and flavor.

If you are like the bean, when things are at their worst, you get better and change the situation around you. When the hour is the darkest and trials are their greatest, do you elevate yourself to another level? How do you handle adversity?

Are you a carrot, an egg or a coffee bean?

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.

Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying. It's easier to build a child than repair an adult. This is so true. May we all be COFFEE.

The Power of Purpose of Intentions

Understanding the WHY of setting intentions allows us to understand their importance. Becoming aware of and Understanding the energy surrounding your intentions is a distinction which gives even greater clarity and speed to the realization of those intentions.

An awareness of the energy you’re focusing on your intentions allows you to directly impact the intentions you’re setting. This is because your intentions ARE the energy underlying all that you’re
be-ing, all that you’re do-ing and therefore all that you have. Understanding where you’re coming from allows you to make adjustments to the energy you’re giving your intentions and thus fine tune the results you’re getting.

Dr John Di Martini believes that the very second you set intentions aligned with your values that’s when inspiration takes over. Understanding your ‘Why’ or you ‘Purpose’ therefore is paramount to its creation.

One of the biggest things people worry about these days is money or the lack thereof! And one of the most common things people apply intention to is, you guessed it, money.

And yet why do you want it? For what purpose? For most, it’s more about, having enough money to pay the bills and ‘Not worrying about money’ rather than the accumulation of money.
The fact is though that everyone has the power within them to do just that, stop worrying about money and focusing on the bills and re-focus on what they have. It’s a decision. And that’s
where intentions come in.

The thing with setting an intention is, it creates more of what you’re communicating to it through
your vibration or the energy you’re setting your intention with.

Let’s say for instance you’ve set the intention to increase the amount of money flowing into your life, BUT you’re focused on all the bills you have to pay, there not being enough money to pay those bills and / or all you don’t have. What then, are you going to attract … more of the same! Makes sense when you think of it like that doesn’t it?

You m
ay well ask ‘How then do I focus on abundance and prosperity when I’m not either abundant or prosperous?’

This is where becoming aware of the vibration or energy around your
intentions comes in. Being really honest with yourself about how you ‘feel’ about the intention is a big part of the manifestation of that intention. Because let’s face it setting the intention itself is easy; allowing ourselves to believe it can happen and receive it when it does happen can be a sticking point. So many of us have been trained or trained ourselves to be disappointed, and have resigned ourselves to being let down or missing out.

Therefore it’s not just what you want when setting an intention, it’s also about understanding ‘Why’ you want it and then believing you’re worth it. That’s right. You deserve to have anything and everything you want.

To understand your ‘Why’ you need to get clear on your ‘Purpose.’ Getting clear on your purpose therefore is paramount to the attraction of your intention.

Once you’re clear on your purpose and the reason why your intention is important to you, Inspiration sets in. It’s inspiration that creates within you a willingness to keep on keeping on even if so called ‘reality’ is questioning you. Staying inspired over time is the difference that makes the difference in manifesting your intentions.

And the bottom line is ‘Love dissolves all resistance.’ That’s right. If you truly love and appreciate yourself it generates feelings of self-worth. If you feel great about yourself and your life and the world around you it gives you an enormous advantage in the realization of your intentions.

So get clear on who you are and what’s important to you and set your intentions with based on these fundamentals and you’ll find ‘miracles happen and what’s even more important miracles happen to you!’

Love life and live it creatively,

Why Are Intentions Important?

The dictionary talks about ‘Intention’ in two parts:
• an aim or objective, and
• quality of purposefulness.

To elaborate more fully: an intention is something that somebody plans to do that has the quality or state of having a purpose in mind.

Fundamental to INTENTION is belief that ‘thought shapes reality’. That means that what you focus on in your mind, is ultimately reflected in your reality. Reality being a perception an individual chooses to place their focus on and the meaning placed on that focus.

So just wh
y would you want to set intentions?

Bottom line; it’s your intentions that set the course and determine the direction you’re headed and ultimately the results you achieve.

People without clear intentions tend to roll aimlessly from one situation they don’t want to another and their life becomes one of avoidance.

Whether we believe it or not, we tend very much to get what we think about. And if you check in with your results, you can quite easily work out where you place the bulk of you thoughts or intentions.

Intention is sometimes seen as a dogged kind of determination forcing one to succeed at all costs by never giving up on an inner picture. However this is not what intention is.

Intentions activate an energy in the Universe that allows the act of creation to take place. It’s the process of
deciding what it is you want, getting a clear picture of it, feeling as if it already is then detaching from the outcome. It’s not so much something you do but more an energy you’re part of.

Intentions give purpose. A person without intention is a person without a purpose. When a mind has no purpose it tends to create pictures of what it DOESN'T WANT and then spends it’s time taking evasive a
ction.

Intentions also have to be in line with your values and beliefs. When intentions are in line with your values and beliefs they flow in an almost magical way.

Anything you give calm, certainty to will expand. So in a relaxed and happy manner, focus your persistent and complete attention on the peaceful and
powerful outcome you imagine as if that or something better is your reality. The Universe has no distinction between imagination and reality.

The great thing about setting a powerful intention is that you can literally ‘Set and Forget.’ Gone is the need to stress over outcomes. Gone is the need to make a lot of difficult decisions.

When you’ve set meaningful intentions
it’s easy to move from that place of being tossed around on a
sea of aimlessness to a position of confident knowing. It’s so effective.

When you’ve set meaningful intentions you know where you’re coming from. Life simply flows. The value of making that mind shift from fear and chaos to peaceful, knowingness of intention is a life full of purpose and synchronicity. It's a mind shift.

Getting in touch with how it feels as if you already have your intention is one of the key parts to the process. Think of a time when you were doing something you really wanted to be doing because it was important to you, you were having fun and it was all going to plan. That’s the feeling surrounding an intention aligned with your highest values and beliefs.

In setting Intentions based on your highest values your life becomes full of purpose because you understand what's important to you.

Powerful intention statements are shaped from knowing what’s important to you.

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

Mind Set: Say bye to your fears; Adrian Savage

I found this wonderful article in by Adrian Savage today (8 Jun 2008),in The Times of India. What do you think?

Over time, we all gather a set of constricting habits around us — ones that trap us in a zone of supposed comfort, well below what our potential would allow us to attain. Pretty soon, such habits slip below the level of our consciousness, but they still determine what we think that we can and cannot do — and what we cannot even bring ourselves to try. As long as you let these habits rule you, you will be stuck in a rut.

Like the tiny, soft bodied creatures that build coral reefs, habits start off small and flexible, and end up by building massive barriers of rock all around your mind. Inside the reefs, the water feels quiet and friendly. Outside you think it’s going to be rough and stormy.

There may be sharks. But if you’re to develop in any direction from where you are today, you must go outside that reef of habits that marks the boundaries of your comfort zone.

There’s no other way. There’s even nothing specially wrong with those habits as such. They probably worked for you in the past. But now it's time to step over them and go into the wider world of your unused potential. Your fears don’t know what’s going to be out there, so they invent monsters and scary beasts to keep you inside.

Nobody’s born with an instruction manual for life. Despite all the helpful advice from parents, teachers and elders, each of us must make our own way in the world, doing the best we can and quite often getting things wrong.

Messing up a few times isn’t that big a deal. But if you get scared and try to avoid all mistakes by sticking with just a few tried and true behaviours, you will miss out on most opportunities as well.

Lots of people who suffer from boredom at work (and in life) are doing it to themselves. They are bored and frustrated because that’s what their choices have caused them to be. They are stuck in ruts they dug for themselves while trying to avoid making mistakes and taking risks. People who never make mistakes never make anything else either.

It’s time to pin down the habits that have become unconscious and are running your life for you, and get rid of them. Here’s how to do it: Understand the truth about your habits. They always represent past successes.

You have formed habitual, automatic behaviours because you once dealt with something successfully, tried the same response next time, and found it worked again. That’s how habits grow and why they feel so useful.

To get away from what’s causing your unhappiness and workplace (and life) blues, you must give up on many of your most fondly held habits and try new ways of thinking and acting. There truly isn’t any alternative. Those habits are going to block you from finding new and creative ideas. No new ideas, no learning. No learning, no access to successful change.

Do something differently and see what happens. Even the most successful habits eventually lose their usefulness as events change the world and fresh responses are called for. Yet we cling on to them long after their benefit has gone. Past strategies are bound to fail sometime. Letting them become automatic habits that take the controls is a sure road to self-inflicted harm.

Take some time out and have a detailed look at yourself — with no holds barred. Discovering your unconscious habits can be tough. For a start, they are unconscious, right? Then they fight back. Ask anyone who has ever given up smoking if habits are tough to break. You've got used to them and they are at least as addictive as nicotine or crack cocaine.

Be who you are. It’s easy to assume that you always have to fit in to get on in the world; that you must conform to be liked and respected by others or face exclusion. Because most people want to please, they try to become what they believe others expect, even if it means forcing themselves to be the kind of person they aren’t, deep down.

You need to start by putting yourself first. You are unique. We are all unique, so saying this doesn’t suggest that you are better than others or deserve more than they do. You need to put yourself first because no one else has as much interest in your life as you do; and because if you don’t, no one else will. Putting others second means giving them their due respect, not ignoring them totally. Keeping up a selfimage can be a burden. Hanging on to an inflated, unrealistic one is a curse. Give yourself a break.

Slow down and let go. Most of us want to think of ourselves as good, kind, intelligent and caring people. Sometimes that's true. Sometimes it isn’t. Reality is complex. We can’t function at all without constant input and support from other people. Everything we have, everything we have learned, came to us through someone else’s hands.

At our best, we pass on this borrowed existence to others, enhanced by our contribution. At our worst, we waste and squander it. So recognise that you are a rich mixture of thoughts and feelings that come and go, some useful, some not. There’s no need to keep up a façade; no need to pretend; no need to fear of what you know to be true.

When you face your own truth, you’ll find it’s an enormous relief. If you are maybe not as wonderful as you'd like to be, you aren’t nearly as bad as you fear either.

The truth really does set you free; free to work on being better and to forgive yourself for being human; free to express your gratitude to others and recognise what you owe them; free to acknowledge your feelings without letting them dominate your life. Above all, you will be free to understand the truth of living: that much of what happens to you is no more than chance. It can’t be avoided and is not your fault. There’s no point in beating yourself up about it.

What is holding you in situations and actions that no longer work for you often isn’t inertia or procrastination. It’s the power of habitual ways of seeing the world and thinking about events. Until you can let go of those old, worn-out habits, they’ll continue to hold you prisoner. To stay in your comfort zone through mere habit, or to stay there because of irrational fears of what may lie outside, will condemn you to a life of frustration and regret.

There's a marvellous world out there. You'll see, if you try it.

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

The Secret Law of Attraction and Gravity

This is an orderly universe; nothing happens by accident.
~Bob Proctor

What does the 'secret' Law of Attraction and Gravity have in common you might well ask?

The Universe operates by a set of laws where success is just as certain as gravity because they're both governed by these same set of Universal Laws.

You didn't have to become an expert to make gravity work for you, which means you don't have to be an expert to make the laws of success work for you. But you do have to put them into action!

Movies like 'The Secret' and ' What the Bleep' have put the spotlight on Learning about the Universal Laws and how to use them. It's shown everyone who cares to watch them what many people seem to instinctively know or like Napoleon Hill, have spent years studying and that 'This is an orderly universe; nothing happens by accident'.

Stephen C Paul says Lay Down Your Mask

Everything you're looking for lies behind the mask you wear.
~Stephen C. Paul

Did you know that you're perfect whole and complete in this moment?

Did you know that you're perfect whole and complete in every moment?

Did you know that you're perfect whole and complete in every moment AND you're still learning and growing?

When is the right time now that you admitted to yourself that this is true?

When is the right time now for you to empower and honour the people in your life by laying down your mask and showing them the brilliant, wonderful, person you really are?
