A Change is as Good as a Holiday

How many times do you hear yourself say “I need a holiday!”?

Your life is busy with routines - work, school, laundry, after school activities ... it’s no wonder you feel hassled, stressed or on that running wheel you can’t seem to get off of.

Maybe your job seems boring, or your daily schedule seems endlessly tiring.

You tell yourself you need a holiday, or convince yourself that you just need to get away from it all. But guess what? It’s all there when you come back, and all of that blissful feeling of well being ends in the first meeting at work, or even in the first hectic morning back in the routine.

I'm not sure where I first heard the saying, 'A change is as good as a holiday.' and realilstically it doesn't really matter. They were wise words and ones most of us have heard often. They're words I put to work in my life when I feel tired, stressed or just plain bored.

Change
For some people though, just the word 'change' can be stressful.

They associate it with major events, like having to get a new job, moving house, an event that requires a major effort on their part or a change in the way they behave.

Change is Refreshing
But there are many changes that we can make that can refresh us on a daily basis, som
e serious and others fun.

Many of the options for change are not things that we even normally consider a 'change,' but they are things we can do to refresh our daily lives and maintain the balance we need.

They can be little things like taking a different route to work, the shops or school or even simpler things like putting the left leg into your pants before the right or the other way round or using a different hand to hold your toothbrush in.

Try it yourself ... I know when I first started doing my morning routine slightly differently it amazed me how something so small could make such a difference to the way I thought about things.

Meaningful Change
We all need to find the basic qualities that make our lives fulfilling and meaningful.

These basic qualities then become the elements of our lives - the fundamental components that make us whole. Recognizing these elements is not enough - the key is to find the balance of elements that reflects the importance and priorities of our lives.

So what makes your life meaningful? I'd love to understand what's important to you.

Remember: It's the journey that makes the difference ... enjoy the journey and the destination then becomes a bonus!

Become the Director of Your Life

With each new sunrise we're given the opportunity to start fresh and direct a brand new movie that is our life. That is, providing we're willing to acknowledge that we can.

That’s right, no matter how many things may've gone wrong for you up to this point in your life, if you’re willing to do so you can start over and put any things that haven't quite gone to plan behind you.

The sooner you get to a place inside yourself where you can move past life’s shortcomings the sooner you'll be able to start taking more advantage of the vast opportunities that life affords those who don’t allow themselves to perceive life's little hiccups as an opportunity rather than staying stuck in the past.

As the saying so eloquently goes …

The past is in the past, the future we don't know yet, and the present is a gift we can give ourselves. Perhaps that’s not exactly how you heard it said, but I think you probably get the point!

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

Bring on 2009!

2008 ... What a year!!

Bring on 2009! That's all I can say.

And it seems to have been a very, very interesting year for most of the people I know ... in more ways than one ... myself included.

It's incredible how many people I know personally who've moved house, and a lot of them at really short notice as well, for a whole variety of reasons ... myself included!

In my own case it's been an huge undertaking which is still evolving. I was chatting to a friend of mine the other day and he was saying moving house is up there at the top of the list as one of the highest, most stressful events in people's lives.

That being said, it is however a GREAT opportunity to have a good clean out ... and they do say (not sure who they are but still ...;) that cleaning out your cupboards helps clean out the recesses of your mind at the same time.

It's amazing how many things change when you move house ... nothing is where it's been ... well in my case for 11 years ... talk about find a new way to get to work!!! And I work a lot from home!

What about you? ... What was your year like? And what are you looking forward to this year?

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

The New Year Crossroad

You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don’t think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.
~ Anthony Robbins

Well it's the start of yet another year! Gee they come around quickly now ;)

With the start of a New Year comes the opportunity to review where we've come from and what we've achieved to this point and set our goals for the new year.

The thing with the past, is learning from it. Don't get me wrong, learning from the past is a good thing ... holding onto the pain and the hurt and defending ourselves against further pain and hurt ...that's when the problems arise.

Forget your past ... well not completely ... remember the good times, review what went wrong or didn't go to plan ... BUT from the perspective of what you gained from that situation.

Was it a greater understanding of yourself?

Did it highlight a decision or a belief which needed updating?

Through it did you meet someone or go somewhere which actually ended up helping you to clarify where you're headed more clearly or get you closer to your goal?

Your past doesn’t have to define your future — as long as you make the commitment to find the opportunity in it.

Love life and live it creatively,

Leanne

The Spark Plug

by Dr. Robert Anthony
www.ManifestingSecrets.com

How is your car running these days? Have you perhaps had occasion to change spark plugs lately?

If you have, you'll know that it's a very simple job. You drive into the garage and the mechanic opens up the hood of the car, looks underneath, takes off one electric wire, puts in a wrench and takes out a spark plug, puts a new one in, puts the electric lead back on and within five minutes you can be on your way. It's a very simple thing to change spark plugs, isn't it?

But supposing you walked into a garage and asked them to change a spark plug and the mechanic came out and immediately started to take off the right-front wheel.

You would probably think that he was slightly insane, wouldn't you, and you would protest vigorously that you didn't want the wheels changed, all you wanted was a new spark plug.

Well, the other day I had a friend come to see me. He has a new sports car and he explained to me that to change the spark plugs on one side of the car, it was necessary to take off the right-front wheel! This is absolutely true.

Can you imagine the reaction of the owner the first time he drives into a garage and asks for new spark plugs? Out comes somebody and takes off the right-front wheel. He'd probably protest vigorously, as I said. Yet, my friend assured me that it was but a two-minute job to take off the right front wheel and once that was off, the spark plugs were very, very accessible and simple to remove.

Now there's a lesson this for all of us. We look at things in our lives and we see activities going on, like the taking off of a front wheel, and we wonder how on earth our lives work in this way. We're looking for the solution to a problem and a solution begins to come in some form, which is totally incomprehensible to us. We expect our good to come to us in one way. We expect the solution to come into our lives in one very obvious way, like lifting up the hood and taking out the spark plug, but the solution begins somewhere entirely different.

We may be looking for the solution of a family problem when the real need is a change in jobs. We may be looking for a change in health when in Truth; the real need is a change in our own activities and our own thinking.

The whole point to the story of the sparkplugs and the front wheel is this: that we should not attempt to judge the way in which our problems are solved, or the way in which good comes into our lives.

The total universe is a vast and complex organization. We can never understand the ramifications of Creative intelligence in our universe and, therefore, in our own lives. What we could do is say, "Fine, I accept that Life totally support me, and I accept that there is good in my life, and whichever direction it may come from, I'll accept it, know that it is good and wait for the final outcome of good."

Here then, my friend, encapsulated, is a great and vital Truth:

DON'T EXPECT YOUR PROBLEMS TO BE SOLVED IN THE WAY THAT YOU SELECT.

There may be a better way if you will put your preconceived ideas aside and open yourself to the inspiration of Creative Intelligence. It may mean taking off the front wheel of your life to get a defective spark lug by the results will be better than you can possibly imagine. Trust your inner guidance and allow the solution to come from any direction and your problems will be solved easily and effortlessly.
